About Highland Stone
At Highland Stone, we do more than install countertops — we help you create spaces that feel just right. Our countertops look beautiful, function well, and feel like home every time you walk through the door.
We’re a small, local team based in Ladson, South Carolina, and we’ve been working with homeowners across the Lowcountry for years. If you’ve found your way to us, chances are someone you know had a good experience with Highland Stone and passed our name along. That’s how most of our projects begin — not with flashy campaigns, but with relationships.
This isn’t just work for us. It’s personal, and has been since we got started.
About the Owner
David, our owner, has been in the stone business for over 22 years. He’s worked on everything from small powder rooms to large commercial installations, and for the past several years (since 2019), he’s been at the helm of Highland Stone.
What sets David apart isn’t just his technical expertise — but he does have plenty of that. It’s his commitment to doing the right thing. Every project is approached with care. Every client is treated like a friendly neighbor (because around here, they often are). And when something unexpected comes up — and let’s face it, working with natural stone means it sometimes does — David’s the kind of person who’ll find a way to fix it, even if it costs him more than it should.
That kind of character is rare in this business. It’s one of the reasons clients keep coming back and referring us to friends and family.
"If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
— William Morris, influential designer, artist, and poet
Our Philosophy: No Shortcuts and No Excuses
A lot of companies in this industry divide the work between different people or outside contractors. One team does the template. Another does the install. With that approach, some things fall through the cracks and customers feel it. We don't work like that.
At Highland Stone, everything stays in-house.
At Highland Stone, everything stays in-house. That means fewer miscommunications, no shifting blame, and one point of contact from start to finish. If something’s not right, we’ll fix it. If you have a question, we’ll answer it. And if your stone arrives with an unexpected vein or a chip you didn’t expect, we’ll help you understand your options — and guide you toward a solution that feels good.
We take pride in seeing a project through. It’s not finished until you’re happy.
Why Choose Highland Stone Countertops?
As you probably know, there are several places to purchase countertops in the Charleston area. But here’s what we’ve heard from our customers about why they chose us:
“I wanted someone I could trust.”
We hear this one all the time. We treat your home like we’d treat our own. No cutting corners, no glossing over problems, no pushy upsells.
“I needed someone who would actually show up.”
We respond quickly, show up when we say we will, and keep you informed throughout the process. That shouldn’t be special—but it often is.
“I wanted it to look beautiful and last.”
Our work is made to stand up to real life—cooking, cleaning, family, friends. And, is often the centerpiece of conversations.

A Word or Two About Stone
We love natural stone. The texture, the weight, the unique story in every slab. And we also respect it. Stone can be unpredictable — a subtle fracture, a surprise color shift in a spot that didn’t show up under the warehouse lights. That’s why we’re meticulous from the moment the slab arrives to the day it's installed in your home.
We use every precaution available to protect your material and your space. We won’t rush the job, and we clean up before we leave your space. Our goal is that when we pull away from your driveway, you feel nothing but excited about what we left behind.
When You Work With Us
When you choose to work with us, you’re not just getting countertops. You’re getting a team that takes ownership. That understands how much you care about your home or business. We respect your time, your money, and your trust.
We won't pretend problems never happen. We just make sure you’re never the one left holding the bag when they do. We believe that’s what being in business—and in a community—is all about.
Ready to Get Started?
Whether you’re just gathering ideas or you’re ready to get on our schedule, we’re happy to talk through next steps, help you explore material options, and answer all your “what ifs.” There’s no pressure, just real help from people who’ve done this before.
